With just a couple of days to go and with a mountain of presents under the tree, Simon Damerell and his band of merry helpers loaded up a ute and headed to Ronald McDonald’s Auckland Domain House to deliver their cargo of presents to the children who would be spending Christmas away from home.
“This is a great cause for all of us at Ray White Damerell to be a part of, and it’s fantastic to be involved for the fifth year,” says Damerell. “Once again, we have been humbled by the overwhelming generosity of our community, with donations exceeding those of previous years."
“And we are looking forward to brightening up Christmas for even more children and their families during the 2018 festive season,” he says.
In total, 350 Ray White offices across New Zealand and Australia collected more than 50,000 gifts for their local charities. Ray White Damerell Group gathered in total 390 gifts for ROnald McDonald House. Thank you to everyone who donated.
Ronald McDonald House
Established in 1989, Ronald McDonald House helps families who have a hospitalised child and are away from home. By providing free accommodation and support services, they ensure these families can remain together and be better placed to cope and help their children heal.
The modern, purpose-built building in the grounds of Auckland Hospital has 48 family bedrooms, including four self-contained units for families with a child waiting for, or recovering from, a transplant. These are also occasionally used by oncology patients and their families during longer treatment regimes. Families also have the use of two kitchens, two dining rooms, an on-site school, fitness centre and communal lounges including a TV room, plus additional computer, and craft areas.
